To minimize the possibility of faults, the assembly should be designed without electrically driven components. It should preferably operate on simple mechanical principles, be easy to assemble, easy to repair, and any faulty components should be inexpensive and simple to replace.

Returning briefly to the operation of the JRH 15-tube solar panel: due to the density difference between cold and hot water, an upward circuit forms in the solar collector, whereby the mass of hot water heated in the evacuated tubes is replaced by an equivalent mass of cold water. When selecting the collector’s location, consider the following:

  • The solar collector should face South with an inclination of approx. 45°. If oriented East, it will work more efficiently in the morning; if West, heat gain will be higher in the afternoon.
  • Ensure the chosen spot is not shaded by trees or buildings during the day, especially between 9:00 and 15:00, when sunlight is at its peak.
  • Check the roof structure to ensure it can bear the load of the solar collector filled with water. Also verify the support points of the front legs on the roofing; it is recommended to place adequately resistant pads under the legs. If the roof structure cannot support this additional load, reinforcement is required.
  • The solar collector is installed above the highest hot-water consumer. The minimum pressure of the hot-water column is determined only by the height at which the collector is mounted.
